We are now offering custom pullet rearing for small batches (under 5000 birds per customer).
With our new aviary rearing system up and running we are now taking orders for pullets. Pullets are grown to order for commercial egg producers, and orders are also taken for rural retailers and on sellers.
We often rear to two basic specifications. These are based on customer production conditions and are at the discretion of the customer to suit their needs.
Ordering Process
For quantities under 500 birds, we may be able to help with birds that are currently in rearing but naturally as they weren't place "to order" they will come with what ever vaccines we had specified, we will delivered these birds within 200km from Tenterfield for the price you have been quoted.
For commercial quantities we require a deposit to be paid prior to egg placement at the hatchery. This can take some pre planning on the customers part at the bird will not be with you for nearly 20 weeks. We do this for several reasons, we are not in the business of rearing birds that don't have a home and the margins on pullet rearing are very small so discounting spare birds is not a viable business model.

We chose to invest in an aviary rearing system for multiple reasons but primarily so the bird has been raised in an environment that wasn't flat and she has trained to be active her whole life from the beginning. Lazy birds are often lazy when they come on the lay and that usually means eggs laid not where they should be. Being reared on equipment that is literally full of perches causes them to be very good perchers and can help with getting them to sleep where you want them to.
This is entirely your decision between you and your vet. We will talk you through the benefits of the different options but it should definitely be an informed decision, ideally after a call with a vet. We can recommend several vets who can give tailored advice to your situation. Some vaccines are relatively expensive but this cost can be massively off set but the either improved production over the life of the birds or protection they can offer from a potential problem you don't even have.
Roughly 3 times per year. This is because we have one rearing shed that is all in all out and thoroughly disinfected and sanitized between every batch. We don't have multiple flocks running which is why we can't offer birds more regularly. We do apologize for this as the timings may not suit your current batch but hopefully we can forward plan well enough that batch dates are known and can be utilized or not.
Yes, delivery is included up to 200km from Tenterfield. Distances further than this will be charged per hour from leaving the farm to getting back. This can be quoted.
No. The biosecurity risk is too high and there are no guarantees of cleanliness. You can however use a commercial bird carrier, this can be discussed at the time of order. (They have processes and systems in place that the industry has deemed to reduce the risk to "manageable")
